REFUGEE DOCTORS.
ADMISSION TO UNIVERSITY,

DUNEDIN, Tuesday
At a meeting of the Council of the Otago University this afternoon, Mr. W R. Brugh moved in accordance with notice of motion: "That the resolutior. passed on August 15, 1939, under which admission in- 1940 to the medical school was refused to Dr. Burstein be rescinded."
The keen debate which followed ehowed considerable diversity of opinion, but the motion was carried on the voices!
Only a few of the refugee medical men have so far completed their course at the school for the requisite period, and been registered by the Medical Council. Most of them are now attending the school complete the necessary three years' course. The original period of attendance was one year. In all, approximately 24 refugee medical men have completed their course at the school or are still attending the school.
