QUEEN CARNIVAL.
SOUTHERN CANDIDATE LEADS.
The total sum collected for the Sick •and Wounded Fund is £67,312. Th* Queen of the South, Mrs. Gordon Matthews, maintains the lead in the Quee» Carnival competition, with, the Commercial Travellers' Queen, Miss H. Piirdom, in se<smd place. Latest voting figures ere:—South, 874,819; Commercial Travellers, 741,003; East, 606,101; Air, 557,905; Public Service, 521,945; Sports, 495,501; Sea, 462,437; North, 430,301; Soldiere, 260,961; Maori, 231,588. In the Town Hall to-night, the Yachtsmen's Ball -will be held in aid of th« Queen of the Seas. Mr. W. B. Darlow. The "Chins Up Revue," sponsored by the Commercial Travellers' Association, will continue its season at His Majesty's Theatre this evening. A grand "Victory Fair" will be held in the Town Hall Friday next, in aid of the Queen of the Sea.
A Scottish Regimental ball will be 'held in the Town Hall on Thursday next, in aid of the Soldiers' Queen
