No Extension Of Rations In Britain. COST OF LIVING STEADY. British Official Wireless. (Received 1 p.m.) RUGB\, June 17. Saying, '"We are satisfied we have a pretty good emergency scheme," the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Food, Mr. R. j. Boothbv, disclosed that there was no need for an immediate extension of the rationing system. The index figure for the cost of food was one point lower on June 1 ihan on May 1, while the general cost of living was one point higher. The increase in the general figure was due to an increase in the price of coal and clothing.
