WOMEN AND UNITY.
'N.Z. WOMAN'S WEEKLY*; i POPE PIUS XII. AND WAR. j I SEVEN FREE PATTERNS. j It is undoubtedly true that unity of purpose and organisation are the strongest weapons of modern warfare. This fact is brought home to readers in the current issue of the "New Zealand Woman's Weekly," for in her weekly article the editress stresses the point that co-operation of all is essential in true democracy. This can only be achieved by unity and common loyalty to one great ideal and by the pursuit of one great aim, which gives light and life to our very existence and which is a lodestar on our path. The article concludes by urging united action on the part of all loyal and determined women, and readers are again invited to send in particulars of the war work that is being done in their city or town. Some explanation of the attitude of Pope Pius XII. and a description of his unique kingdom is provided in an illustrated article called-"Pope Pius XII. and Our Crusade." The tiny nation which he rules covers only 108 acres, and over it flies the gold and white Vatican flag. The writer traces the history of Great -Britain's contacts with the Vatican since the days of Mary Tudor, and the article makes very interesting reading. Photographs showing the different national groups at the world tea party are an interesting feature of the issue, and in addition there is the usual bright Action, directions for ; knitting cosy woollies for baby and seven free patterns to choose from.
