HIGHER TAXI FARES.
'(Fin.lll Our Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Wednesday, lfamiltoii taxi fares will be increased next Tuesday to offset increases in operating costs during recent years. The new scale, which has been approved by the No. 1 Transport Licensing Authority, Mr. E. J. Phclan, fixes the fare at 1/0 for the lirst mile, instead of the present charge of 1/. and Cd extra for each additional half-mile, as at present. There will be. an extra charge of 1/ on fares between midnight and 7 a.m., compared with Cd under the present ■scale.
