LIVES BY FAITH.
18 YEARS FOODLESS.
GERMANY'S MIRACLE GIRL. EXPERTS BAFFLED. (Special.—By Air Mail.) LONDON, March 30. i A <iernian girl has refused all ration [cards. She is Theresa Neumann, of Konnersreutli, Bavaria. Known as Germany's miracle peasant girl, she is 6aid to have had no food or drink for IS ivears. Only the Blessed Sacranitent passes her lips.
Medical experts, bishops, psychologists and psychic investigators are unable to offer any natural explanation why Theresa lives without food of any kind; talks in Aramaic—the language used by Christ; bears the stigmata—the five wounds of Christ; and undergoes the Passion every Friday.
Theresa's childhood was normal. A long martyrdom of illness, for her began in 1918. when she dislocated her c-pine in helping to put out a fire. .She became a helpless invalid. Total blindness followed.
Her sijjht returned miraculously in 192 a. '•Mother." she exclaimed. "I can seo." .She was also able to walk again and one of her first visits was to the village church, where the whole parish had gathered to thank God with her. Theresa's stigmatisation dates from 1920.
