Delegates to the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association last night derided upon an important amendment to the ranking rules. , after consideration of a report from the selection committee.
This , recommended that the selectors should be entiled, in drawing up ranking lists for the ><-i!son, to take into consideration the resi:!t« of club. Inter-club and tournament matches, as well as ranking and Auckland championship mutches, to which they were restricted by the existing rules. The report of the Auckland hard-court championship committee showed a reduction in iho number of entries as compared with those of last year from 5411 to 3~><i. Notwithstanding rliln. it was not round possible to complete all events liy Blister Monday, and the report contained recommendations for extending the number uf days allocated for play.
As the result of reports that some dismitisfiiction existed in one or two club* regarding Hie system under which the ope:i grade competition was conducted it was decided to j-onvene n meeting of »lclegate« from nil chilis at present competing in this grade, or intending so to do, so that the system might Iμ- revised.
