GENERAL FREYBERG'S APPEAL.

(Bj- Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. An appeal for more men for overseas join ice dispatched to New Zealand by Major-General B. C. Freyberg, V.C.. commander of the Expeditionary Force" was rend to the National Recruiting Council meeting to-aav. •I make this appeal to the men of New Zealand, convinced as I am of the justice of our cause and the urgency of our need," says the commander.

"Our arrival to join the great and increasing army in the Middle East has had a far-reaching effect upon both foe and friend. When the time comes to take the field I am confident, no matter how great may be the dangers or hardships, that the New Zealanders, like their predecessors, will acquit themselves with valour and determination.

"Meanwhile, those of you who arc still enjoying your beautiful country and its liberty cannot let so small a force as this tight the battles which will decide your future destiny. 1 we all who are young and fit enough to bear their share to join us without delay. We look to you. We shall not look in vain."
