WESTFIELD DAIRY CATTLE.

VALUES GENERALLY FIRMER

Values for the dairy cattle sold at the weekly Westfield sale yesterday were generally firmer all round. The yarding was smaller and the demand keener. An exceptionally fine quality Holstein-oroes cow, in milk, realised £14, Shorthorns sold up to £12, and Jersey and Jereey-cross cows and heifens ranged from £9 to £11 10/. Very few cattle sold under £7. In the store section business was not eo brisk, the demand for boner cattle being lees pronounced. Other lines sold at late rates. The quotations were:—

Store Cattle.—Young cows, good condition, to £6; less condition, to £4 7/6; others, to £2 12/6; boner and aged cows, heavy sorts, to £4 15/: medium, to £3 12/6; others, to £2 10/; potter bulk, mostly medium-weights, to £8 5/; others, to £6 10/; meaty killable cows, to £6; yearling Jersey heifers, good quality, to £4 17/6; others, to £2 15/; herd bulk, to £7.

Dairy Cattle. — Jersey goods, good springers, to £11 10/; more backward, to £9 10/; others, to £7 10/; Jersey heifers, choice to £11 10/; more backward, to £9 5/; others, to £7 10/; Jerseycross cows and heifens, good quality springers, to £11 10/; more backward, to £9 10/; othere, to £Tls/; Shorthorn cowe and heifers, choice quality springers, to £12; more backward, to £10; othere, to £8; Holstein-crose cows, in milk, to £14; springers, close to profit, to £11; othere, to £8 10/; other cows, to £7 10/.
