BRILLIANT HALVES BY TWO MIDDLEMORE PLATERS.
In tieing for first place for the best net score in" the medal competition at Middlemore on Saturday, D. A. Burt and R. E. Bell were responsible for brilliant play over the last nine holes. Burt was out in 44 and home in 33, while Bell was more consistent, playing the finst nine in 38 and the second in 34. Both had net scores of "0, and Burt' won on the count back over the second nine. The scratch score for the last half of the course is 35, and the par 34 (the seventeenth hole at present being within easy range of the second shot). The scores of the two players were:— Burt 3, 3, 5. 2, 4, 5, 4. 4, 3 Bell 3, 3, 6, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 4
