N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIP.
QUARTER-MILE GRASS TRACK.
AT EPSOM SHOWGROUNDS
The New Zealand quarter-mile grass track championships will be held at the Epsom Showgroun.ls next Saturday. There will be a full programme of about 18 events, and owing to the nature of the track speeds shouid be high. This meeting will be run by the Auckland Motor Cycle Club, the body which controls all race meetings held at Mangerc Speedway. Muriwai Beach and the New Zealand Tourist Trophy races at Waiheke.
Motor cycle racing of a type not seen in Auckland for many vears is anticipated, as l>otli dirt track and grass track riders of the top row will bp competing. This is the first occasion on which the championship has lwen held in Auckland, and competitors will all be eager to gain the title and the honour of being the fastest man in New Zealand on the quarter-mile track.
Over 17 entries have been received to date, further entries closing with the secretary. Mr. R. H. Batty. 74. Balmoral Road. Mount lvh-n. to-morrow. Special trams will be running from Queen Street' to the Showprounds. and the first race is timed to start at 2 o'clock.
