All accused pleaded guilty. Detective McEwan read statements in which tlie accused admitted breaking into various premises in the city and stealing the cash and goods in the charges. The damage done to doors or locks was also admitted. Detective-Sergeant Trethewey said the offences committed by the boys had caused a considerable amount o*f work to the police. He asked that the boys be ordered to make restitution, Boyd to the amount of £8 16/, Smith £13 19/6, and Simpson £2 11/9. The magistrate told the boys that what they had done was a very serious matter, but they did not seem to realise the seriousness of their offences. "From inquiries I understand that over 40 offences have been committed by you and other boys with whom yon have been associated. I intend to confer with the probation officer before finally dealing with you. Y<Si will be kept in custody until Friday, when you will be brought before me again.
