HOUSING DIRECTOR.
MR. ALBERTSON APPOINTED.
"IX FRONT RANK OF ENGINEERS."
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. The appointment of Mr. G. W. Albertson as Director of Housing was made to-day by Cabinet. Mr. Albertson is engineer to the Main Highways Board, a position also held by Mr. Justice Tyndall before he became Director of Housing. Mr. F. Langbein, district Public Works engineer in Christchureh, has been promoted to succeed Mr. Albertson as main highways engineer. His successor as district engineer is Mr. T. G. Beck, who has distinguished himself as an irrigation engineer in South Canterbury. These apj>ointments were announced by the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. R. Semple.
"Air. Albertson has had all-round experience as an engineer, having been stationed in many parts of New Zealand in tlie last 32 years with the Public Works Department," said the Minister of Housing, the Hon. H. T. Armstrong, in a telephone interview this evening. "He took Mr. Justice Tyndall's place as engineer at the head office of the Main Highways Board, and he was very highly recommended for the position of Director of Housing by Mr. Justice Tyndall, the Engineer-in-Chief of the Public Works Department, Mr. John Wood, and by the Public Service Commissioner.
"Mr. Albertson is in the front rank of engineers iu the Dominion/' said Mr. Armstrong, "and according to representations made to me he is a man very well suited for the position. The transfers will take place almost immediately."
