Auckland city has much to lie proud of, :u> I. a \ isitor from the South, very willingly admit; at the same time, I am sorry lo see that tlic practice tithe inhabitants—mostly males—of certain streets of spitting on the footpaths and the still more objectionable defilement by vagrant dogs are a serious blot on the city's good name. Don't you think so? Perhaps a few prosecmion* would do away with this nauseous, feature. CLEANLINESS.
