CORRESPONDENTS' VIEWS.
NATIONAL INCOME. (To the Editor. ) I have waited for someone mors versed in the .science of economies than I am ;•• either challenge the Hon. W, Nash's statement that we have been (as a nation) living l<eyond our income, m else to explain how it is done, or has been done! During the years 1933 im 1035 election, add again daring the last election. Labour candidates, irv%idbi« the late Prime Minister, assured th» public that our national income was the poods and services that we produced in New Zealand. Has someone been foolish to eat next season's crops, to u*c next scs-on's wool, to live in the Government lio...h'j» before they are built, to »*<• die roads, etc., before they are formed, to utilise the labour we might have, or how lravc we as a nation lived beyond our income? Please don't »c»wer that. The Hon. Minister meant in » monetary sense. Money is a commodi'y we have not yet been licensed to produce. Admitted we have plenty of ~ee-c. but the proper gander? FREDERICK MacLEOD.
