BUSY FRANKTON.
NEARLY 140 TRAINS A DAY. STATIOXMASTER RETIRES. (By Telegraph.—Own CorrcsrM.ndeut.) HAMILTON*, this day. The enormous amount of traffic handled daily at Fraukton ."unction was commented upon by Mr. H. H. Hornblow, acting-stntionniastcr, at a farewell to the retirinjr stationmaster, Mr. \V. <i. Stewart, on Saturday nicht. Mr. Homblow stated tliat Frank ton was an exceptionally busy centre, and the traffic was continually increasing. In any 24 hours of the year 139 trains arrived and departed, while an averajre of 34SG wagons, weighing 10 tons each, were handled every day. The staff of the Frankton station totalled 532. and to cope with the traffic t>o engines were stationed in the locomotive department of the junction. I There was a larjrc attendance at the farewell, when several tributes were paid to the work of Mr. Stewart, who was the senior statioumastcr in Xew Zealand. Mr. C. A. Barrcll. M.P. for Hamilton, who also spoke, expressed confidence in the Hon. P. Frascr as Premier
