FINANCE FOR FARMS.
LOANS AND SECURITY. PROBLEM IX NEW ZEALAND. ''From all parte of New Zealand representations have been made for more finance for the. development of farms," said Mr. R. B. Tennent, director of Primary Production, in discussing production problems with the Auckland District Council of Primary Production in conference to-day. Money was sought for the purchase of stock, fencing wire, farm machinery and other needs, he added. State and private lending institutions existed to supply the demand, but they could lend except only on sound security. No farmer who had the security to offer had trouble getting money, and there had been a marked increase in loans to farmers, particularly by the banks. The State Advances Corporation was among those doing all in their power to assist the primary industries. "The real trouble is that many farmers who want money cannot get it because they are mortgaged up to the hilt," Mr. Tennent ' declared. "They have not the security, yet they need more money and very often they could make good use of it."
