FIRM TONE MAINTAINED. AUSTRALIAN ISSUES FIRMER. The quiet but firm tone with which tl Auckland Stock Exchange closed last wee was evident at the first call to-day. Th was most evident in Australian issues, < which two may be taken as examples. They are Electrolytic Zincs and Broke Hill Proprietaries. For the ordinary issn of Zincs on Friday, buyers were £3 1, with sellers absent. This morning tli quote was £3 3/ for buyers, with sellei again silent. For the preference issue o Friday the quote was £3 2/ and £3 3 :. This morning the figures had shifted up t £3 3 o and £3 5 re>pectivelv. Broke Hills to-day had bidders at £2 13.9 an holders t'2 15/, while last week the quoti tions were £2 12, 'J and £2 14/. The Noon Call. Australian issues continued to harden a the noon call. Buyers tor Broken Hill advanced to £2 14/. while buyers for th preference issue of Electrolytic Zinc* ai willing to advance their offers by the sain eum, the buying price now being £3 3 9.
