TO ASSIST WAR EFFORT.
ODDFELLOWS GIVE £1000. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUXEDIX, Sunday. A straight-out donation of £1000 to the Government for war purposes was made' by the Otago District Manchester Unity Independent Lodge of Oddfellows at the half-yearly meeting of deputies yesterday. It was pointed out that if the Allies lost the war friendly societies would be in dire trouble, and the Manchester Unity's funds or nearly £500,000 would probably be confiscated.
