FINANCIAL LOSS.
THE EXHIBITION. IMPORT RESTRICTIONS. £50,000 RENT MISSED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON", this day. Contributing causes to the financial loss of the Centennial Exhibition were explained hy Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, chairman of directors of the Exhibition Company, when opening the Centennial conference of the Commercial Travellers' Association to-day. The exhibition, which had now under four weeks to go, had been a success, but not a financial success, said .Mr. Hislop. Floor space that would have brought in a certain .00,000 had been pencilled in but with a stroke of the |«on that had been taken away, import restrictions preventing intending exhibitors from taking part. That loss wa* equivalent to 6/8 in the £ io shareholders. In addition, the war and the petrol restrictions, had had an adverse effect, but there would still be an attendance I of over 2,500,000.
