DOUBLED QUOTA FILLED.
HAWKE'S BAT RECRUITING. (From Our Correspondent.) HASTINGS, Thursday. Hawke's Bay's quota of recruits for the Third Echelon has been filled, in epite of the fact it has been doubled and that the district has supplied a number of men to other areas to fill their quotas. Details are:—Total registrations, 2917; fit, 2001; reserved occupations, 224; sent to camp, 1096; balance available, 720. The original quota for the area was 315, this being later increased to 387 and then to 715. The Hawke'e Bay quota for the Maori Battalion was txceeded by 40.
