CUP CONTEST.

WELL-BALANCED FIELD CARD FOR TO-MORROW. PROBABLE FAVOURITES. The only race meeting in the Auckland Province to-morrow will h e the Thames Trotting Club's Jubilee and Centennial fixture, with the Oup as the principal attraction. Thirteen pacers comprise the field in this event, and as the issue is decidedJy open betting should tak* a lairJy wide range. The prospects ot .Belfast Jstt, Kete Kura, Our Jewel, Television, Bronze Queen, aud Isabella Pointer are sure to be taken into serious consideration, and it would not surprise if Bronze Queen is the ac*ual favourite when the tote is closed. Her second to Peter Smith in the Cambridge Centenary Handicap in January in 4.30 4-5, was tine form. However, Mrs. C. McGregor's mare is not the only horse in the race to have rim round 4.30 ior two miles during recent months. At Epsom on Decern.ber °29 last, Kete Kura recorded 4.31, and at Palmereton Xoit'i on February 19, Television covered the distance in 4.30 4-5, from 72yde behind, to run second to Warship. Kete Kura is receiving 36yds, and Television 12yds from Bronze Queen. Our Jewel, Isabella Pointer and Belfast Jack, three improvers, have good form over a mile and a half to commend them. Belfast Jack was a close second 10 Warning at Hawera at liis bust start. It is likely that those most prominent at tfce end will be Kete Kura. Bronze Queen, Television. The opening event is the Pasrawai Handicap, in which there are eight straightout trotters. Bournemouth, 12yds, and Glen Bingen, limit, raced prominently at Auckland in February, and the former has eince raced well on the Taranaki circuit, where Gold Kip also earned place-money. Nelson Carbine is reported to be working •well, and Master Wrack showed promise several months ago, but the favourites may be Glen Bingen, Bournemouth, Gold Kip. Included in the field for the Hikutaia Handicap is Sir Echo, a "boom" at Epsom a couple of months ago, but a signal failure in hie races. He has since shown promise in the Waikato and may go better to-morrow. Snowy Bingen was in the fighting line all the way in the Stewards' Handicap at Hawera on Maroh 25, and eventually secured third place in 2.52 1-5, Those most prominent at the end may be Sir E:ho, Snowy Bingen, and Princess Linnett. Toceetie Is Speedy. On March 23 at Hawera, Toceetie, a six-year-old Grattan Loyal mare, won the Auroa Handicap by 100 yarde in 3.24. She is on 3.38 in the Turua Bracelet. Albertini, Alcazar, Sweet "Aloes, Narbada and Revision, all on the up-grade, are among the opposition. The probable favourites are Toceetie, Albertmi, and Sweet Aloes. The President's Handicap included Mali Jong, Josedale Dictator, Cracksman, Margin and Sir Tony, all winners this term. Hah Jong defeated Josedale Dictator at Auckland on December 30, but the- latter improved considerably to win a double at Epsom in February. He has now to concede Man Jong 36yds. The distance •will suit Cracksman, while Frontier , Boy would only need to keep down to have a great show. Preference may be shown for Mah Jong,. Cracksman, JosetSle Dictator. Most of those engaged in the Piiriri Handicap are in the Hikutaia Handicap earlier in thfr day, but Excel and Ringatone—a place-getter at Epsom in February —are nonr-comers with prospects. Opinions nay be affected by the running of the Hikutaia, but most fancied may be Excel, Uingstone, Sir Echo. The acceptors in the Kerqpeehi Handicap are much the same as those for the Turua Bracelet, and here ttgain the earlier form nruet 'be considered. PeAaps, Toceetie, Albertini and Kewpie'e Bingen vill make the most appeal. The distance <rf the Kopu Handicap ehould b more to the liking of Belfast Jack than the two milee of the Cup, and the same remark applies to Isabella Pointer, while the Our Jewel—Decoy Bird bracket should be hard to dispose of. Others with prospects that appeal are Narbada, SUrgum and Television, but this is probably the most open race <m the ■proTamme Favourites will probably be Belfast Jack bracketi Isabella Pointer and Decoy Bird-Oin , Jewel bracket. Betting will be on the win and place eystem. Deteile of the fields are^ — 11.50—PARA WAI HANDICAP (Trotters) of £130 and Trophy value £20. One mile and a half. Limit 3.49.
