INTOXICATED IN CAR.
SAIESMAJf FIHED £10. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHAKATANE, this day. A salesman, Charles Henderson (58), appeared before Messrs. G. A. Brabant and A. C. Sutherland, J.P.'s, in the PolkeCourt yesterday charged with being intoxicated while in charge of a car on the Whakatane-Rotorua main road on Wednesday. Sergeant M. Farrell prosecuted and Mr. C. A. Suckling appeared for accused, who pleaded guiltv. Accused stated that he would never again drive a car. As a result of an accident he had incurred heavy expenses. "The Act considers this a verv serious offence," said the Bench, "and * provides for a penalty up to £100. A fine of £10 was imposed, and accused's license was cancelled for sir months.
