HIGHER DUNEDIN TOTAL.

WAR REGULATIONS' EFFECT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. The import and petrol restrictions had an appreciable effect upon Customs and other revenue collected in Duncdin and the Port of Otago during the past 12 months, but the large number of taxes imposed under the War Emergency Regulations resulted in the total collection for the year ended to-day being just on £8!),000 above those for the previous 12-nionthly period. In both the monthly and quarterly figures the Customs returns show a decrease, but beer duty collected is considerably in excess of the returns for either period in 1030, the return for the year being over £76,000 more than that of 1030. The year's totals are as follows, the 1030 figures, being given in parentheses: Customs duty. £710,846 (£760,277); beer duty, £403,458 (£327.070); sales tax, £330,303 (£300,020); petrol tax. £103,110 (£202,073); gold tax. £14,72.1 (£20,037); tyre tax . £0238 (£0512); wool export, £2803 (£2371); total receipts, £1,738,751 (£1,649,955).
