OBITUARY.

MR. E. J. SWANN. The death has occurred in Auckland of Mr. Ernest John Swann. of Matangi. aged 72. He came to New Zealand from England r>o years ago, and had lived in Auckland, Kotorua and Tauranga. He moved to Matangi 13 years ago, where he lived till his retirement last year. Mr. Swann was formerly an owner of trotting horses, being a meml>er of the Auckland, Waikato and Cambridge Trotting Clubs. He is survived by his wife and two daughters. MR. MATTHEW HICKEY. The death has occurred of Mr. Matthew Hickey, aged 74, of Seddon Street, Pukekohe. Mr. Hickey had served for a period as traffic inspector at Pukekohe, and was a member of the staff of the Borough Council for many years. He was formerly an enthusiastic yachtsman. MR. ERNEST JOHN KNIGHT. The death occurred recently at the residence of his daughter. Papatoetoe, of Mr. Ernest John Knight, of Levin. Fourth son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Knight, Mr. Knight was a grandson of one of Wellington's pioneer families. He was born at Lower Hutt in 1874, where he took up farming at an early age, later farming in Taranaki, Wairarapa, and Manawatu, and retiring in 1924 to live at Levin.
