LEAGUE OF MOTHERS.

QUARTERLY MEETING.

The League of Mothers of the Auckland Province held its quarterly meeting in the Y.W.C.A. Mre. Harvey Turner, provincial president, presided over a large attendance of members.

In her opening address, Mrs. Turner referred to the great work to be done by the mothers of the world. A letter was read from Mrs. S. O. English, the newly-elected Dominion president of the league. Mrs. W. C. Utting, provincial secretary, gave a brief account of the visit of Mrs. Turner and herself to Broadwood and Rawene branches. Later, Mrs. Utting said, a vieit would be paid to Whakatane and Gisborne.

With reference to patriotic activities on the part of the league, the president asked each member to do what she could individually in connection with the entertainment of and hospitality for the soldiers. It was decided to <;et in touch with Canon R. G. Coats immediately to offer to take the responsibility for the catering for soldiers at the St. Matthew's Welcome Club on four Saturday evenings tli'K year. In making this announcement Mrs. Turner said she felt the support of the Welcome Club by the members wps one which had a special appeal to every mother in the league.

At the close af the meeting wool for the knitting of balaclava caps was distributed to the members.

It was announced tliat Mrs. Tumor and Mrs. L'ttiiijr would lay a wreath on the Cenotaph on Anzac Day on behalf of the league member*.
