"France's war objective remain? the same —to defeat the enemy." declared M. Reynaud, the new French ■ Prime Minister, in a broadcast! He added: '"In forming the Government I desired unanimity and offered members of all parties the opportunity to collaborate. Thi* unanimity will come. "If. amid war, France had offered the spectacle of a cascade of Governments, enemy propaganda would have denounced the failure of our democracy. The real risk was not in favouring .lie enemy's propaganda, but in favouring the execution of his plan. He gambles on our internal break-up. enabling military action at the minimum of cos-t. "The Government's duty is clear — make war on all fields. The situation might change at any moment, but .France will not be invaded, not surprised, and will not be left unprotected.
"Those attempting to thwart France's effort will be crushed. This wai will ix* hard. We have to fight hard, work hard and suffer hard, but we will win."
