REHEARSAL PLEASED.

RECEIVED POOR RUN.

Amigo as a stater. comment ox feilding form. (Special to " Star.") WAXGAXLT, Tuesday. Rehearsal showed at Trentham that he was running into form and his success in the Hack Cup at Feilding. therefore, came as no surprise. It was a good performance on the part of Rehearsal to carry" 9-0 to victory in a strong field, more especially as the Limond gelding did not have a good run. He was squeezed back twice, but finished gamely to win in the fast time for hacks of 2.6. As he is likely to be further improved by his Easter racing, Rehearsal should add to his winning record at Awapuni next week.

Homily appears to strike more than her share of trouble in her races, but some of this is due to an inclination to run about. In the Feilding Cup the Posterity mare went kindly and beat all but Amigo, but on the second day she ran about a lot and was never dangerous.

Amigo won the Feilding Cup like the racehorse he is. It was his first effort over a longer distance than a mile, but he won all the way. He carried 8.9 and ran the mile and a quarter in 2.5, a performance which shows that the Beau Pere gelding can stay on as well as sprint brilliantly. He ran the first five furlengs in 1.2 and the la6t five a second faster.

On tftxe second day Amigo ran another great race, beating all but Footloose in the principal event, while carrying 96 and conceding the winner 131b. He should strip at his best for the Awapuni Gold Cup next week, when he is likely to extend even Beau Vite.

Taiho, winner of the maiden, is a cut above the average, judging by the easy way in which he scored. He is a three-year-old by Wheriko—Pompadour and ia trained at Marton by F. MeHugh. Taiho should be heard of again shortly. Lindrum beat Rehearsal by only a neck on the first day, but on Monday he bolted home from Russian Ballet and other good performers in the open seven. Although the Siegfried gelding wag probably improved by his first day's race, his easy win makes it appear that Rehearsal is above the average, especially as he was conceding Lindrum slib on Saturday.

Zest, the winner of the concluding event, a a . three -year-old filly by Beau Pere— Sparkling Morn, and is owned by Mr. W. S. Glenn. Zest was in front all the way and scored the easiest of wins-. This makes her record this season seven starts for three firsts and three thirds. Other successes are likely to come her way, as she is well above the average. Ruatiti failed to run into a place either day, but on the second day would have been in the money in the Hack Cup but for bad luck. The Limond gelding was chopped out at barrier rise, but ran into the lead at the turn for home, where he went out wide and lost his position. This gelding should be worth watching at Awa-1 puni next week.

Scandal was confidently backed by his ■ connections for the Rewa Hack, but the Bulandshar gelding finished last. He was prominent early and second entering the straight, but then faded right out of it. Salvation, a bay filly by Phaleron Bay— Saxon Saint, owned by Mr. G. C. Glenn, of Wanganui, had 6howh such good track form that she was backed very heavily by one or two supporters for the Nursery Handicap on Monday. Salvation began well, but received a check which spoilt any chance she may have had. A race should come her way shortly.
