HARD COURTS.
EASTER CONTEST. Final Stages Reached —No Surprises To-day. Except for a few isolated events it is expected that the Easter hard-court tennis tournament", held under the auspices of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association at Windmill Road, will be concluded this evening. The tournament, which is under the managership of Mr. L. S. Bates, was delayed on Saturday owing to frequent rain showers, and with more tiian 400 entries to handle (here has been a big demand on the organisational powers of the committee. There were no surprises in play this morning, singles semi-finals running to form, with the seasoned players on top. Results were:— HEN'S SINGLES. A SECTION. Semi-finals.—A. S. Burns beat H. Polling haus, tt—2. 7—5. SECOND SECTION. Quarterfinals—R. Kawllnson best D. Ingham. 6—l, 6—o; I. C. Bayly beat W. H. Gladstone, 6— i, 6—3: G. Kerr-Taylor beat D. Kelly. B—2. I—6. 6—l; J. C. Rogan beat. K. F. Diprose, 6—2, 3—l (retired). MEN'S DOUBLES. A SECTION. Semi-final—J. H. Moller and Radon ich beat M. Solomon and E. T. Leva, 6—2. I—B. 6—2. WOMEN'S DOUBLES. A SECTION. Semi final.—Mrs. Morse and Miss P. Cooke beat Mrs. Partridge and Miss Milne, 6—l, 6—l; Mrs. Potter and Miss Adams beat Mrs. Wentzl and Miss Dryland, o—o, 0 4. MIXED DOUBLES. A SECTION. Semi-finals.—R. W. Smith and Miss P. Cooke beat Mr. and Mrs. Wentxl. 6—3, o—4: A. S. Burns and Mrs. Morse beat O. S. Bold and Miss K. Milne, G—l, 6—2.
