The Rev. D. Tho n .c. viear of All Saints' Church. Hokitika. has been appointed a chaplain to the third echelon of the Second Xew- Zealand Expeditionary Force. Dr. J. G. Gibbs. plant pathologist, who has for the past 12 years been associated wjth the Agricultural Department m Palmorston North and more recentlv m Auckland, has left for Chatham Islands, where for three years he will act as agricultural adviser to the Governnient. He is a son of Dr. and Mrs H. E. Gibbs, of Wellington.
