DOUBLE ACCIDENT
LEAGUE FOOTBALLER,
SERIOUS CONDITION. MAORI GIRL ALSO HURT. A well-known Rugby League footballer, Cyril Blacklaws, of Union Street, Tukekolic, is in the Auckland Hospital suffering from concussion and head injuries, and his condition is serious. He sustained head injuries in a fall from a. lorry at Puni on Thursday. Also injured in the same mishap was a. 20-year-old Maori girl. Miss Wniata firaham, of ITawcra. Her condition is fair.
Mr. Blacklaws had been engaged on a farm near Puni, when lie hrokc a small hone in his wrist. A lorry set oil' for Tukekolie to take him to a doctor and a number of Maori women also hoarded the vehicle.
In Attewcll's Eoad the driver slopped to allow the women to alight, whereupon Mr. Blacklaws and Miss Graham fell to the ground. Mr. Blacklaws returned to New Zealand about six months ago after four years in England, where he was under engagement to a club.
