MAN OVERBOARD.
FISHERMAN LOST. IN THE DARK. LAUNCH TRAGEDY. (By Telegraph Press Association.) BLENHEIM, this day. Tragedy overtook a fishing excursion to Port Underwood early yesterday morning, when Ernest Robin Palmer, aged So, a married man of Christchnrch, was missed and is presumed to have been lost overboard while a launch on which, a party of about 20 men was proceeding down the Opawa River. The launch left Blenheim at 2 a.m. Less than an hour later, when nearly everyone aboard was. asleep, the owner Mr. Tim Dakeu, who was at the helm, heard a splash. He gave the alarm, and a check-up revealed that Mr. Palmer was missing. The launch Wns turned back, and for two hours a search was made from', a dinghy without success. Dragging operations throughout yesterday .were fruitless. Mr. Palmer, a. painter by trade, had been employed in Blenheim for about two months.
