SECRET U.S. AIRCRAFT.
BRITAIN WANTS TO BUY. WASHINGTON, March 22. The Allied Purchasing Mission lias formally n*ked t.lio Government to permit the immediate sale of secret experimental aeroplanes to the United Kingdom. It i«* stated that Germany i«s rapidly expanding Hie production of exceptionally fast and powerful armoured machines. The Allies are therefore srainblin.2 the 1,000.000.000 dollars which they are placing in war pin no orders in America if they are compelled to take aircraft which are obsolete l>cfore delivery.
Committees of the. House of Representatives and the Senate ordered inquiries pome time ago into whether the sale of aeroplanes to the Allies was proceeding to the point of hampering the defence programme of (lie United States but these inquiries have been postponed indefinitely.
