IN SCHOOL BUILDINGS. "As „ result of Mies which have occurred recently in school buildings it has come to the Department - .-, notice that ; some school committees and teachers are ' not insuring their property against damage or destruction bv lire." "I shall be glad, therefore, if vou will draw the attention of teachers 'and s d">ol i imittecs to the fact that in replacing a school building destroyed by lire tin- Department's liabilitv is confined to rebuilding the school and providing new furniture and equipment, the whole cost of which is usually found by the Government. The Department cannot accept any liability for replacing pianos, gramophones, picture,-, wireless sets. special apparatus, teacher.-' and pupils' books, sports material and other property the full eost of which has not been provided by the Government. Therefore school committees should be advised to insure thc.-e articles." It was decided Io advise teachers of J the position and to inform the Department that in (lie view of member's the [ cost of insurance should be borne bv * the Department. ' •
