WEEK'S WORK THE FLOWER GARDEN Clean up all beds and borde**. Weeds, spent plants, dead blooms should' be cleared off. .„ Disbud chrysanthemums. Watch for caterj»llars; a spray with arsenate of lead is a good insurance policy. Give chrysanthemums frequent doses of liquid manure. Weak and often, and change as frequently as possible. Give attention to staking and tying. This needs looking over every day. If rust begins to show spray with lime sulphur 1-120. Do not wait till all the foliage is spoilt. Spray every week. Dahlias must be kept staked and tied. Disbudding, the removal of spent blooms i—d the trimming of the plants will also be necessary. THE VEGETABLE GARDEN Clear off all spent crops. Dig vacant ground, also between crops, using a digging fork. Sow Lettuce, Radish, Onions, Carrots, Beetroot and Turnips. Pint Cabbages, Cauliflowers, Silver Beet. Give established plants a pinch of nitrate of soda. Lift and replant herb bed. This is a good time to go over these plants. Some of them are inclined to become weedy unless trimmed up annually. , „ Go over any seed potatoes in store. Place in shallow trays to sprout. Do not let them form "long white shoots. Lift early crops of carrots and beet which are full size. If left they will split'and become useless.
