Noted Ships On Stamps.

THE first ship portrayed on a stamp to be sunk in the present war is the Polish liner Pilsudski, for which a special stamp was issued by Poland in 1935, when the ship made its maiden voyage. A number of ships in the news are shown on stamps, adding to the collector's interest in his album. The French liner Xornmndio is shown on a French stamp of 1935. The German liners Bremen and Hamburg arc shown on Gorman stamps of 1037. The new French battleship Clomcnceau i« seen on a French stamp issued early this year. The Italian battleship Trento is shown on an Italian stamp of 1931. Argentina's training ship Sarmiento was

portrayed on a stamp of that country this year. Tho recently scrapped Mauretania, speed queen of the Atlantic for many years, is shown in Antwerp harbour on a Belgian stamp of 1929. An American Export Lino combined cargo and passenger liner is shown in tho harbour at .Algeria in a stamp of that French colony for the X;w York World's Fair. The famous Canadian fishing schooner Bluenosc, often in the news as champion schooner of the Atlantic coast, is shown on a Canadian stamp of 1925. Xcw Zealand's Royal Mail steamer Monowai is shown on the 1932 issue of the Cook Islands and Nine. The Italian liner Rex is shown on :i Cuban stamp of 193(1. Danzig's stumps of 1935. one of the last sets issued, shows the German Transatlantic liner Columbus, recently scuttled. The current Falkland Island stamps feature two ships in the news in recent years in connection with Antarctic, exploration, the Discovery H. and the William Scorcsby.
