AFTER 40 YEARS.
STATION MASTER RETIRES. The retirement of Mr. W. fJ. Stewart, stationmaster, J'rankton Junction, is announced to take cfl'ect on "Wednesday. Mr. Stewart, who lias been in tlie service of the Department for -10 years is to be succeeded by Mr. T. Miller, of the district traffic manager's ollicc. Duucdin.
Mr. Stewart joined the Railway Department in Christehurch in March, 1000. His fiiwt station was ilalelmiia. lii 1028 lie was promoted to Pukckohc. wliorc lie was stntionmnstcT for two years. He was at C-tnllulm in the same position for two years, and from there went to Xew Plymouth, where he held the same post for live years. lie has heen at Frankton, regarded as one of the most important stations ill Xew Zealand, for two and a-half veins. When in the .South Island Mr. Stewart was a choirmaster in various centres, and in Xew Plymouth was a community song leader.
