£50,368 COLLECTED

SATISFACTORY RESPONSE. RESULTS FROM DISTRICTS. The Fighting Services Welfare Appeal conducted by the Y.M.C.A. and Salvation Army as the collecting authorities for the National Patriotic Fund Board is showing the satisfactory total of £50,3 US collected up till Wednesday, "hen a general .surrey was made of results from various parts of the Dominion. Returns were available from oS collecting centres, but 70 more towns have .-,till to make their reports. The above total is exclusive of the generous donation of £10.000 bv Mr. T. H. Lowrv, Hawke's Day, for the'establishment of'a Y.M.C.A. Hut overseas.

Tlio honorary treasurers, Sir James Urctec, Colonel Kemp and Mr. P. K. Pattrick, have forwarded a cheque for £•23,000 to the National Patriotic Fund Board, representing the first instalment of proceed* banked to credit of the fund.
