RUGBY LEAGUE.
A NOVEL PROPOSAL.
SOUTH AUCKLAND THIRTEEN.
TEAM FOR CITT COMPETITION.
At the meeting of the control board of the Auckland Rugby League last evening the chairman, Mr. G. Grey Campbell said it was likely that the position as the result of last year's working would be found very satisfactory indeed in view of the absence of representative fixtures and the preparation of the team for England. It would be shown that the revenue from club competition matches had been well maintained. % Introduced by Mr. J. A. Redwood, president of the New Zealand League, a deputation from the South Auckland Rugby League asked for consideration of a proposal for a team from that centre to play in the Auckland championship in home and away matches. Mr. A. Harlock said the move would create great interest in the district and help the League there to carry on. Mr. Redwood said he thought that the proposal might be a worthy wartime experiment. The chairman assured the visitors that their suggestion would be carefully considered by the board, with reference to the clubs. It might be, lie- said, that the advent of a new club would be a progressive step in the circumstances. . • v^ uh U. c -.
