Mr. X. Scheinwald is paying a business visit to Auckland. Mr. H. C. McCoy was a passenger from Wellington this morning by the Limited express. The Hon. T. Blood worth. M.L.C., returned from Wellington by the Limited express this morning. The Rev. K. W. McKinncy, M.A., formerly Presbyterian minister at Tirau, who has recently been at a Scottish university taking an advanced course of study, has been appointed to take charge of the Sheldon Presbyterian Church, Birmingham, for six months. Mr. Xorman B. Spencer was elected unopposed as the new president of the Auckland Chamber, of Commerce at the annual meeting last evening. The only nominee for the vice-presidency was Mr. L. Alfred Eady. Five councillors elected were Messrs. F. G. Baskett, T. H. Bowie, G. .1. Browne, J. A. C. Allum and Trevor M. Davis. Dr. Edward G. Savers, of Auckland, has been awarded the Cilento Medal for 1940 by the Institute of Anatomy of Canberra for his work for native welfare in the tropics. A member of the Royal College of Physicians and a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, Dr. Savers vi« bom in Christchurch. and is 37 years old. He has practised in Auckland for the last five years, and will go into camp early in March, later taking up a post with New Zealand's overseas forces as specialist in tropical diseases at the first general hoepitaL
