"NOT WORKABLE."

NEW TECHNICAL SCHOOL PROPOSAL. AT NORTHCOTE: The fact that a technical high school at Xorthcote would be "almost unworkable'' w»s stated in a letter received by the Auckland Education Board to-day from the Education Department in response to a request by the Xorthcote District High School for such a facility. The Department's opinion was that the estimated number of pupils was much too small for efficient working. The total roll number of 390 to 4lVj pupils was regarded as minimua for efficient working of a multi-course pottprimary school. "The problem of technical education in Auckland, including the problem of northern suburbs, is being closely investigated and further steps arc shortly t» be taken to define a progressiva policy," added the letter.
