GENEROUS GIFT.
£1,000,000 For Britain From Malay States. EXPRESSIONS OF LOYALTY. (Received 11 a.m.) SIXGAPORE, February 20. The proposed appropriation of £1,000,000 by the Council of the Federated Malay States for the British Government for the prosecution of the war has been approved. The High Commissioner, Sir Shenton Thomas, said that "perhaps we shall be able to offer yet a further gift." A Malay member of the Council. Ra.ja Uda, said: "We are helping the Allies to fight for freedom and justice, on which the existence of small nations depends. We are proud to range ourselves with the rest of the Muslim world on the side of the British Commonwealth and the French Republic."
Chinese and Indian members spoke similarly.
