Tlic opinion that the Government should give donors some relief by allowing a deduction against assessable income money donated to patriotic purpose* was expressed by the Mayor, Mr. & K. SkldeUe, at a public meeting called to discuss tha raising of fund* for patriotic purposes. A resolution to this effect was passed. In moving the resolution the Mayor said the prevailing heavy taxation must have some effect on donations.
