OBITUARY.

MR. J. R. CAKADUI The death has occurred of Mr. John Russell Caradus at Hie age of 83. Born in Auckland he spent the greater part of his life in the Grey Lynn district. As a boy lie was apprenticed to the car[KMitry trade, and later started in as a builder, beinjr connected with the trade until his retirement. For some years prior to his death he was the only surviving foundation member of the West Ntrnet Church of Christ. Mr. Caradus is survived by five sons, Mr. J-.dwurd Caradus, director of educational services for the Royal New Zealand Air Force; Mr. James" Caradus, of the Br 11k of New South Wales, Sydney; Mr. John Caradus, RogistrarGeneral of Land, Wellington; Mr. William Caradus, first assistant. Mount Albert Grammar School; and Mr. Charles Caradus, woodwork instructor for the Auckland Education Board. MRS. H. H. CHAPMAN. Mrs. Sarah Chapman, wife of Mr. H. H. Chapman, of Opuatia, Tuakau, chairman of the Franklin Dairy Company, Limited, has died in Auckland. Born in Thames 55 years Mrs. Chapman was married at Paeroa, and she later lived in Cambridge, Pokcno. Onehunga and Opuatia. She is survived by her husband, seven sons and "three, daughters. MR. 6. STEWART. A resident of Auckland all his life, Mr. George Stewart, bui'dir and contractor, of Takapuna, has died in his sixtieth year. Born in Pcnsonby, Mr. Stewart took a keen interest in sport. He wm a life member of the Takapuna Boating Club, and was also connected with the West End Rowing Club. He was associated with the old Auckland City Band, the Brass Bands' Association, the Ponsowbv Boys' Band and the Takapuna Brass Band at various times. Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife, four sons and a daughter. MRS. M. L. CRAWFORD. A resident of 34, Fair View Road, Mount Eden, for the last 40 years, Mrs. Maria Louisa Crawford has died at the age of 88. Mrs. Crawford was born in Yorkshire, ami came to the Dominion with her parents in 1859, the family being the second to settle in the Mangapai district. In 1871 she married the late Captain James Crawford, who was, for many years, in charge of various coastal vessels of the Northern Company. Mrs. Crawford is survived by a daughter and two sons.
