Auckland bowlers quickly got amongst the Taranaki batsmen in the Anniversary Day fixture, commenced here this morning. At luncheon Taranaki had lost five wickets for 65 runs, including the valuable wicket of M. P. Donnelly, who was playing by invitation. Donnelly went for 16. The only other batsman to make a showing was H. Barker, who scored well before he skied a ball from Emery and was well caught by Wallace. ■ Scores:— TARAXAKI. —First Innings. M. P.
