The Department o£ Justice is asking the New York District Attorney to investigate Father Coughlin's connection with the "Christian Front," the revolutionary organisation exposed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation last week.
This decision follows a request by 10 educators and clergymen. Father Coughlin, the American "radio priest," who for years lms wielded immense influence, has frequently denounced Socialism and Communism. Some opponents have declared that his ideas were Socialistic, while others have declared that he is a Fascist. They pointed out the resemblance between his programme and tluit by which the Nazis won power. NO INCOME TAX. SOLDIERS OVERSEAS. (Received 112.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. A conference of State Premiere decided that no members of tiie Australian lighting forces who go abroad will have to pay income tax 011 their military pay and allowances.
