Wolves In Lambskins
SAYS GOEBBELS Only One Opinion Of "Ferocious English ss MUST DESTROY THEM (United Press Association—Copyright.—Received 11 a.m.)
BERLIN, January 19. Britain had made war because Germany was no longer purely a nation of poets and thinkers, said Dr. Goebbels, the Nazi propaganda chief, in a speech. Britain, with her smaller population, knew she could do nothing against Germany once Germany had learnt to organise and build up her army. The plutocracies of London and Paris would find out soon enough what were the Fuehrer's plans. It has been said there is no enthusiasm for the war among the Germans, but there is no need for such noisy enthusiasm. The English should -realise we have a firm determination. The opinion of our people may split on this or that question, but regarding the English there is only one opinion—destroy them. 'Every other nation could attempt to win the German people for their ally, but not so the English. They are ferocious wolves wearing lambskins, trying to placate us with pious phrases about humanity and civilisation."
