Aboriginal Nuns
THE first congregation of Australian aboroginal nuns ever to be established has come into being at the Beagle Bay mission of the Pallotine fathers in the Kimberley district of northwestern Australia. Half a dozen or so young native women w ill become postulants. The order is known as Sisters of Our Lady. Bishop Raible established the congregation following hundreds of requests by native girls to enter the religious life. The new nuns wear habits of blue and white, with sandals. They will not take vows for the present, and will be free <o leave and rejoin their tribes whenever they wish.
