OTA GO AXD CANTERBURY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCH U RCII, Fr id a y. With three wickets in hand, Otago was only three runs behind Canterbury's first innings total at the end of the first day's play in the annual women's cricket match for the Mary Machin Shield. The match will be concluded to-day. The rules governing the shield provide for a win on the first innings. Canterbury made 102. and at stumps Ota go had lost seven wickets for 1-10. The weather was perfect and the pitch good.
