BEER AT DANCE.

THREE MEN PROSECUTED. NEW LEGISLATION INVOKED. (liy Telegraph.'—Press Association.) PAPAROA, Friday. Charges under the legislation proliil>i the consumption of liquor in the vicinity of dance halls were heard to-day at the Maungaturoto Magistrate's Court by Mr. Raymond Fewer, S.M. Arthur Dallas Grant was charged with being in control of liquor in the vicinity of a dance hall at Hakaru, near Kaiwaka,. and Kenneth Patrick Moran and Gordon MePhcrson wore charged with being in possession of liquor in the vicinity of the hall. Grant, who pleaded not guilty, was represented by Mr. G. H. D. Grant. Moran and McPherson pleaded guilty. Senior-Sergeant Henderson said that two men were seen to leave a car and one was carrying a heavy box. Constables Rimm-ir and Ross stopped ther.i and found the box to contain 12 bottles of beer. McPherson, who was carrying the box, denied ownership. Grant said he was convcving (he beer to the hall.
